Resident of Dahlonega
Herbert “Doyle” Childers, age 89 of Dahlonega, Ga. and formerly of Pickens County, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at his residence, following a period of declining health.
Born March 18, 1925 in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Delmer Childers and Clara Mae Moss Childers. Mr. Childers was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred June Jones Childers, a daughter, Teresa Lynn Childers, two sisters and three brothers.
Mr. Childers had worked as a funeral assistant for many years with the Cagle Funeral Home in Jasper and was a member of the Nelson Baptist Church.
Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Chili and Connie Childers of Dahlonega, Ga.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Thomason of Jasper, Ga.,Adez Johnson of Jasper, Ga., and Regina Dean of Jasper, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Dot Childers of Jasper, Ga.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were held April 3, 2014, at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Cory Rich officiated, with interment following in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Royce Lee Beck Jr.
Resident of Dahlonega
Royce Lee Beck Jr., age 69, of Dahlonega, Ga. died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Beck was born in Dalton, Ga. December 8, 1944. He lived most of his life in the Dahlonega area. He was a retired poultry worker and attended Brown’s Chapel Church in Lumpkin County.
He was the son of the late Royce Lee Beck Sr. and Hazel Louise Mincey Beck and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Leon Beck.
Mr. Beck is survived by his wife, Pam Beck, Dahlonega, Ga.; children, Lee Beck, Cleveland, Ga., Tammy Lee Beck, Winder, Ga., Melissa Kimberly, Oakwood, Ga., Wade Ledbetter, Dahlonega, Ga., Jasmine Ledbetter, Dahlonega, Ga., and Devin Walls, Dahlonega, Ga.; brothers and sister-in-law, Frankie Beck, Between, Ga., David and Becky Beck, Chatsworth, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Adene and James Shook, Ellijay, Ga., Brenda and Junior Evans, Murrayville, Ga., and Martha Sue Beck, Chamblee, Ga.; grandchildren, Alexis Beck, Connor Kimberly, Cason Kimberly, and Kayla Munoz. Numerous other relatives also survive.
A memorial service for Mr. Beck is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Brown’s Chapel Church in Lumpkin County. Rev. Junior Evans will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.

Brenda Gail “B.G.” Davis, 63, of Dawsonville passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at her residence following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 7, 1950 to the late Clinton and Lucille Dingee, she had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 25 years. A hairstylist for many years, she was the original owner of 53 Hairport and most recently employed at Cooter’s Cuts. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Sidney Dingee and sister, Arlene Carrol.
Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Larry Davis, Dawsonville; daughters and son in law, Jackie Gibson, Cindy Cox, Wendy Robertson, Kelly and Josh Mulkey; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy and Tracy Davis, Kelsey and Jamie Davis; sister, Vivian Garrett; brother and sister-in-law, Demsey and Carrie Dingee, special brother-in-law, Raleigh Carrol; grandchildren, Heather, Cody, Jeffrey, Melody, Justin, Dylan, Brannon, Angel, Dustin and wife Jamie, David, Abigal, Larry, Zack, Colin; great-grandson, Brayden; nephews, Bobby, Marc, Eric, Derek; a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held March 28, 2014 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Josh Mulkey and Rev. Chris White officiated.

Resident of Dahlonega
Mr. Jewell M. Justus, age 87, of Dahlonega, Ga. died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. following a period of declining health.
Mr. Justus was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He retired from Burlington Industries Pinetree Plant in Dahlonega and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Jewell was the son of the late John and Nannie Ruth Cox Justus and was also preceded in death by brothers, Gene and Lewis Justus; and sister, Lucy Justus.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dena Lou Grizzle Justus, Dahlonega, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Carolann Justus, Gainesville, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Lanora and Stanley Hefner, Cleveland, Ga.; brothers and sister-in-law, John and Sharon Justus, Marietta, Ga., Bobby Justus, Acworth, Ga.; grandchildren, Alison and Ryan Mandell, Blake and Jami Justus; great-grandchildren, Georgia and Kathryn Mandell, and Reese Justus. A number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Jewell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega. Rev. Dennis Fortner, Rev. Lyman Caldwell, and Rev. Dave Fortner will officiate. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
