Judy Loggins Ketchum

Resident of Dahlonega

Judy Loggins Ketchum, age 61, of Dahlonega, Ga. passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014.

Judy was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. She retired after 20-plus years of service with United Community Bank, and was currently working as an auditor for Hamilton State Bank. She was a thoughtful and generous Christian lady that loved her family and spoiled her grandson.

She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Loggins.

Judy is survived by her mother, Mollie Loggins, Dahlonega, Ga.; son, Roland Ketchum, Dahlonega, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Greg Corral, Gainesville, Ga.; grandson, Oliver “OK” Corral; brother, Ed Loggins, Oakwood, Ga.; sister, Annette Loggins and her life partner, Shandra, Dahlonega, Ga.; and nieces, Kathryn Loggins and Madison Koeneke. A number of other relatives also survive.

A memorial service for Judy is scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2014, 12 p.m. at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, Ga., with a reception immediately following in the dining hall. Rev. JR Fields will officiate.

Timmy Lee Sosebee

Resident of Murrayville

Timmy Lee Sosebee, age 56, of Murrayville, Ga. passed away February 8, 2014

Timmy was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. He was a loving, Christian husband as well as a talented wood worker and musician.

The son of the late John Dee and Marguerite Albertson Sosebee, Timmy is also preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie David and Cecil Sosebee.

Mr. Sosebee is survived by his wife, Tina Sosebee; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jill Sosebee, Clayton, Ga.; brother, Ricky Sosebee, Clayton, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dale and Jim Schreck, Cumming, Ga., Brenda and Bill Butler, Lula, Ga.; sister-in-law, Dixie Sosebee, Dahlonega, Ga.; mother-in-law, Evelyn Beyerlein, Dahlonega, Ga.; and father-in-law, Jerry Self, Sr., Dahlonega, Ga. Several nieces and nephews, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Delores Alice Bakey

Formerly of Dahlonega

Delores Alice Bakey was born Dec. 3, 1930 to Dorothy Gagnon and Joseph Bakey in Chicopee, Mass., and raised by her aunt in Bridgeport, Conn. Delores, widowed for 24 years, was married to William Murphy Perry of Edison, son of William C. Perry and Edith M. Perry.

She is survived by her daughters, Denise Perry Carson and Gail Perry Peterson; sons-in-law, John Kevin Carson and William King Gutshall; grandchildren, Kristen Diane Carson, William David Carson, John Dylan Carson, Dana Peterson Evens and Robbi Peterson; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Evens and Hanna Evens.

She was a dedicated wife and mother and will be missed by all. We celebrated her life Tuesday, Feb. 4, in the sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, an offering in her memory may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Cora Bell Harris

Resident of Dahlonega

Cora Bell Harris, age 76, of Dahlonega, Ga. died Monday, January 27, 2014, at her home surrounded with her loving family at her bedside.

Cora Bell was born in Suches, Ga., but spent most of her married life as a resident of Lumpkin County. She was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church. Cora Bell was a dedicated and devout woman of God. She shared a close and intimate relationship with her Savior. She read her Bible daily and fervently prayed for her family, friends and church family. Cora Bell loved going to church and worshipping the Lord. As in the words of Paul in 2 Timothy 4:6-8 “...the time of my departure is at hand. (7) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: (8) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which The Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto them that love His appearing.”

Cora Bell kept her faith until the end of her journey on this earth. In her last days, she had a song of praise in her heart knowing she would live again.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Wayne Harris; her mother, Vandora Seabolt; grandson, Henry Ray Blackwell; sister, Ruby Dowdle; brother, Gene Seabolt; and daughter-in-law, Jeannie Harris.

She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest Ray Harris. They had a close and loving marriage for 53 years.

Mrs. Harris is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Jerry Anderson, Dahlonega, Ga., Regina and Wesley Blackwell, Cleveland, Ga., and Renee and Rusty Hamilton, Dahlonega, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy and Gail Harris, Dean and Louise Harris; sons, Willard Lee Harris and Jeff Harris, all of Dahlonega, Ga.; brother, Robert Wallace, Blairsville, Ga.; sister, Adell Dills, and sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Leon Presley of Dahlonega, Ga.; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Cora Bell were held Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Concord Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Rev. Roger Dunagan and Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiated. Mollie Gaddy Loggins

Mollie Gaddy Loggins, age 81, of Dahlonega, Ga. passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at her home in Dahlonega, Ga. following an extended illness.Mrs. Loggins is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Loggins and daughter, Judy Ketchum.

Mollie was born March 19, 1932 to the late Hardy and Mabel Gaddy. She was born in North Carolina but lived over 75 years in the North Georgia area, and was retired after being a homemaker and working in many different capacities throughout her adult life.

Mrs. Loggins is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Kris Loggins, Georgia; daughter, Annette Loggins and partner, Shandra Norman, Dahlonega, Ga.; grandson, Roland Ketchum, Jr., Dahlonega, Ga.; granddaughters, Melissa D. Corral and husband, Greg, Gainesville, Ga.; Madison Koeneke, Dahlonega, Ga.; Kathryn Loggins, Scott, La.; great-grandson, Oliver Corral, Gainesville, Ga.; sisters, Helen McDonald, Dahlonega, Ga.; Eva Jane Osborne, Carnesville, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Wiley Reed, Pendergrass, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Betty Gaddy, Lula, Ga.; sister-in-law, Jean Gaddy, Gainesville, Ga.; brother-in-law, Frank Loggins and sister-in-law, Martha Loggins, Mary Ester, Fla. A number of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. The family wishes to thank the excellent doctors, nurses, aides, counselors and chaplains who took expert and loving care of Mollie.

Funeral services for Mollie were held Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, Ga. Rev. JR Fields officiated. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega, Ga.

Robert A. Mann, age 83, of Dahlonega, Ga. died Thursday, March 27, 2014 following an extended illness.

Robert lived in Dahlonega, Ga. since 1995, after moving from Atlanta, Ga. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of Dahlonega Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mann; father, Cecil Mann; mother, Lillian Mann and granddaughter, Cammie Black.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Bill Black, Blue Ridge, Ga., Linda and Fred Dickerson, Dahlonega, Ga.; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda Gray, Jasper, Ga., Lynette and Ron Kennedy, Lafayette, La.; grandchildren, Sheila Reinert and Fiancé James Freeman, Orrville, Ohio, Robert & Bella Reinert, Munich, Germany, Marsha Dickerson and Fiancé Jamie Blackwell, Dahlonega, Ga., Angel Edwards, Blue Ridge, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Samantha, Brandon, Anita May, T.J., Amy, Andrew, Austin and Anna; great-great grandchildren, Geoffrey, Cameryn, Isaac, Nicholas, Megan, and Eli. A number of other relatives also survive.

Florrie George Poole

Resident of Dahlonega

Mrs. Florrie George Poole, age 93, of Dahlonega, Ga., died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega following a period of declining health.

Florrie was born in East Point, Ga. January 16, 1921. She had lived in the Dahlonega area for over 20 years and was a former resident of Lilburn, Ga. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was the daughter of the late Issac and Dora Llewallen George and was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank David Poole and seven siblings.

Florrie is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Wayne Hudson, Suches, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Rosemary Poole, Dahlonega, Ga.; grandchildren and spouses, Keith and Lynda Hudson, Laura and Rob Davis, Ian and Jasmine Poole, and Caleb Poole. Eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.

A graveside funeral service was held Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches, Ga. Rev. Lewis Gregory officiated. A memorial service followed at R Ranch in the Mountains Chapel in Dahlonega.

Charlie L. Grizzle

Charlie L. Grizzle, age 83, of Dahlonega, Ga., passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. following a period of declining health.

Charlie was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was retired from the Burlington Pinetree Plant in Dahlonega and was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Charlie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Charlie was the son of the late Raleigh Grizzle and Annie Moose Grizzle and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Grizzle; brothers, Paul Grizzle, Ed Grizzle, and Larry Grizzle; and sister, Ella Mae Calhoun.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christine Grizzle, Dahlonega, Ga.; daughters and son-in-law, Wanda and David Mabry, Dahlonega, Ga., Sherrie Norrell, Dahlonega, Ga.; sisters, Carrie Robinson, Athens, Ga., Bertha Gooch, Dahlonega, Ga., Nell and Junior Simmons, Dahlonega, Ga.; grandchildren, Aireyll and Joe Simmons, Heath and Brandy Christy, Wyatt Norrell, and Bailee Norrell; great-grandchildren, Dustin and Justin Simmons, Dustin and Ashlyn Christy. Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Charlie were held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Concord Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Tony Allison officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard.

James Daniel McCaleb

Resident of Dahlonega

James Daniel McCaleb, age 53, of Dahlonega, Ga. passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the Sea Bee’s. He was a member of the Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge. He loved to fish and study the Civil War.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Sherman McCaleb.

He is survived by his mother, Edna Louise McCaleb of Dahlonega, Ga.; brothers, Keith and Lisa McCaleb of Dahlonega, Ga., Scott McCaleb of Dahlonega, Ga.; sister, Geanne-Marie McCaleb and Steve Brantley of Mansfield, La.; nephews and niece, Ryan, Jessica, and Ben. And several other relatives.

Reda Johnson

Resident of Gainesville

Mrs. Reda Johnson, age 91, of Gainesville, Ga. died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 9, 1922 in Gainesville, Ga. and had lived in the Murrayville area most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of Free Methodist Church in Gainesville, Ga.

Reda was the daughter of the late Lovick Pierce Green and Montine Newton Green and was also preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Johnson; sons, Larry Joe Johnson and Billy Johnson; grandson, Jimmy Johnson; sister, Louise Mooney; and brother, Lovick Pierce Green Jr.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jim Struder, Gainesville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, James and Nancy Johnson, Gainesville, Ga.; brother, William Green, Gainesville, Ga. Seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.
