Jack Booth Loggins

Jack Booth Loggins, age 80, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Bay Front Medical Center/Sun Coast Hospice in St. Petersburg, Florida following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held July 19, 2012 in the Chapel of Banister Funeral Home with interment following at Mount Hope Cemetery. The Rev. J.R. Fields officiated.

Mr. Loggins was born August 16, 1931 in Dahlonega, Georgia to the late Edward Booth Loggins and Ola Grace Ward Loggins. He was retired from Burlington Industries.

Mr. Loggins is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mollie R. Gaddy Loggins; one brother, Walter Frank Loggins and sister-in-law (Martha) of Mary Ester, Florida; his aunt, Beatrice Loggins of Dahlonega, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Helen McDonald of Dahlonega, Georgia, Eva Jane Osborne of Carnesville, Georgia, Mary Jo Reed and her husband (Wiley) of Pendergrass, Georgia; and brothers-in-law, Emmett Gaddy and his wife (Jean) and Ernes Gaddy and his wife (Betty) both of Gainesville, Georgia; daughter, Judy L. Ketchum, son Edward Booth Loggins (wife Kris) of Dahlonega, Georgia; daughter, Annette Carol Loggins (life partner Shandra) of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandson, H. Roland Ketchum, Jr., of Dahlonega, Georgia; and grand-daughters, Melissa D. Corral (husband Greg) of Gainesville, Georgia who are expecting Jack and Mollie’s first great-grandchild ,Oliver Corral, in August, Kathryn M. Loggins of Scott, Louisiana; and Madison Koenek of St. Petersburg, Florida; along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the many excellent doctors, nurses, and chaplains who took expert and loving care of Jack both physically and spiritually that lead through his final days.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.

Amy Lynn Latty

Amy Lynn Latty, age 34, of Cleveland, Ga., died Friday, July 20, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.

Amy was born October 22, 1977 in Tampa, Florida. She lived most of her life in Lumpkin County. She was a “Child of God.”

She was preceded in death by her “Nanny,” Polly Harkins.

She is survived by her parents, Rita and David Cane, Cleveland, Ga., David Schwalls, Florida; grandfather, Austin Harkins, Dahlonega; grandmother, Patricia Kiley; sons, Aaron Latty, Zachary Latty, and Lucas Robinson; brother, David Schwalls; fiancé, Michael Robinson; special niece, Caroline Schwalls. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held July 23, 2012, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. James Wilbanks officiated.

Interment followed in the Word of Faith Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega was in charge of the arrangements.

Gloria Strauss

Gloria Strauss, age 81, of Reading, Pennsylvania died July 19, 2012.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Bob Pullen of Dahlonega.

Earl Eugene McDonald

Mr. Earl Eugene McDonald, age 58, of Dahlonega, died July 17, 2012

He was the son of the late Roy Clyde McDonald. and was also preceded in death by a brother, Clinton McDonald.

Earl was a lifelong resident of Dahlonega.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda McDonald.; sons, Jason Davie Eaton and Steven Earl (Angi) McDonald, all of Dahlonega, Ga.; mother, Zora Abercrombie McDonald, Dahlonega, Ga.; sister, Donna (Butch) Cain, Dahlonega, Ga.; brothers, Mitchell (Karole) McDonald, Dahlonega, Ga., Keith (Linda) McDonald, Lake City, Florida; brother-in-law, Troy Bridges, Gainesville, Ga.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Timmy and Brooke Gee, Gillsville, Ga.; grandchildren, Autumn Reeves and A.J. Reeves. Several nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives also survive.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to help offset medical expenses and may be done through the funeral home.

Memorial services were held July 20, 2012 at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega. Rev. Jesse Stout and Rev. Andy Caldwell officiated.

Michael Earl Smith, age 53, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away Monday July 16, 2012.

A resident of the North Georgia/Chattanooga area for the past five years, he was formerly of Dahlonega. He was a former employee of The Timken Company and was a member of Woodstation United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his parents, J. Lindsey and Esther Dunn of Ringgold, GA.; son, Bobby Earl Smith of Ringgold;, two daughters, Nichole (Ben) Sutton of Manchester, Tenn., and Whitney Smith of Dawsonville; two sisters, Renee (Greg) Spann of Cave City, Ky., and Cindy (Steve) Myers of Athens, Ga.; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held July 20, 2012 in the funeral home chapel.

The family would like to thank Pastor Tamlyn Collins and the members of Woodstation United Methodist Church for their prayers and support for Mike and the family.
