Janet Sue Dixon Holloway Woodward

Janet Sue Dixon Holloway Woodward, age 77, of Dahlonega, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 following an extended illness.

Janet was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, and was retired from Burlington Industries Mohawk Plant. She lived several years in Mississippi where she enjoyed fishing, but spent the last years of her life in Dahlonega. She enjoyed her life with her children and grandchildren, and was of the Baptist Faith.

Mrs. Woodward was the daughter of the late Zeb Dixon and Carrie Harkins Dixon Hollifield Albertson, and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Lewis Holloway and Gene Woodward; sons, Danny and Stanley Holloway; grandson, Tim Holloway; sisters, Ann Akins and Betty Ashmore; and brothers, James, Billy, and Micky Dixon.

She is survived by son, Tony Holloway, Dahlonega, Terry and Kay Holloway, Doucett, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Doug Garrett, and Beverly and Ricky Davis, all of Dahlonega; brother, Jerald Dixon, Alabama; sister, Shelby Franklin, Harrison, Mich., and special friend, Lugene Brady. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Jeanette Harris Voyles

Mrs. Jeanette Harris Voyles, age 72, of Murrayville, (Lumpkin County), passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at her home following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Voyles was a West Virginia native and former resident of Indiana who had lived in this area since 1987. She was a retired healthcare worker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was the daughter of the late John and Minty Walden Harris and was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Voyles; brothers, Bobby, Junior, Willie Green, and Joe Harris.

Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gillham, Murrayville; sisters, Jean Brownlee, Eliza Hopkins, and Emily Hopkins, all of Indiana. Four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a number of other relatives also survive.

A memorial service for Mrs. Voyles was held January 19, 2013 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Clifford Ardene Earles

Clifford Ardene Earles, age 108, of Dahlonega, passed away on January 15, 2013. Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

D.L. Butler

Mr. D.L. Butler, age 89, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 following an extended illness.

D.L. was born and raised in Lumpkin County, and spent his later years in Hall County. He was a retired Operations Manager for Texas Eastern, now known as Amerigas, and of the Baptist Faith.

Mr. Butler was the son of the late Dock and Lottie Wimpy Butler, and was also preceded in death by his son, Douglas Lamar Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Anderson Butler; grandson and wife, Lamar and Mandy Grizzle, Dahlonega; great-granddaughter and husband, Allison and Chris Honeycutt, Gainesville, Ga.; great-grandsons, Jared Grizzle and Daniel Grizzle, Dahlonega; and special caretakers, Purple Gunter and Rhonda Gopaul, Gainesville, Ga., and Karen Paitsel and Jammie Fortner, Murrayville. A number of other friends and relatives also survive.

Funeral services for D.L. were held January 20, 2013 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Minister Rhonda Gopaul officiated.

Interment followed in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega.

Flowers are welcomed, but those that desire may make contributions to a favorite charity in memory of D.L..
