Ms. Arlene Parker, age 51, of Dahlonega, died January 26, 2012.

She was born in Fayette, Alabama. She worked at J&J foods.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Mason.

Ms. Parker is survived by daughters, Amanda Gilmore, Gainesville, Ga., Rebecca Mason, Dahlonega; sister, Regina Lowe, Silverhill, Alabama; brother, William Jacob Traweek, Loxley, Alabama; grandchildren, Dylan, Cody, and Alexis, Gainesville, Ga.. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services were held Monday January 30, 2012 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Bart McMillan officiated.

Mr. Sherman “Chub” Sullens, age 59, of Dahlonega, died January 29, 2012.

He was born in Dahlonega. He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Babe” Sullens and Bessie Sullens; brother, Sylvester Sisk; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Ruby Stephens.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Sullens; daughter and fiancé, Nancy Sullens and Scott Campbell; daughters, Wendy Blackburn and Samantha Sullens, all of Dahlonega; sister, Velva Bruce, Dahlonega; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Robert Gibson, Dahlonega; Lucy and Jim Baliles-Carrier, Ellijay, Wesley and Joan Stephens, Dahlonega; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman and Frances Sullens, Clermont, Ga., Tommy and Linda Sisk, Dahlonega; sisters-in-law, Edith Sisk, Murrayville and Elizabeth Stephens, Braselton, Ga.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Clara and Danny Dyer, Gillsville, Ga.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Wanda Stephens, Lula, Ga.; grandchildren, Micah Blackburn and Khloe Blackburn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday February 1, 2012 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Timmy Sullens will officiate.

Interment will follow in Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Wednesday until time of service.

Louise Doris Edge

Mrs. Louise Doris Edge, age 70, of Dahlonega, died January 27, 2012.

Mrs. Edge was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was retired from Mohawk Industries. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Lumpkin County and attended The Fountain Church in Dahlonega.

She was the daughter of the late Alonzo Fields and Ollie Dyer Fields. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Edge; and a sister, Lona Mae Turner.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Jason Soles, Dahlonega; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and H.B. Waters, Dawsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Louise Fields, Dahlonega, Rondal and Jeanette Fields, Clermont, Ga.; brother-in-law, Herbert Turner, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Will Soles and Caleb Soles. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Bo Robinson officiated.

Interment followed in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

Dr. Mary Olive Parks

Dr. Mary Olive Parks, age 61, of Gainesville, Ga. died January 25, 2012.

Mrs. Parks was born in Chicago, Illinois. She was employed with the Hall County School system for 33 years. She retired as Director of Student Services. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Dahlonega. Dr. Parks was involved in Girl Scouts, United Way, and lots of other community projects.

She was the daughter of the late Winston Gleave and Olive Wilhem Gleave.

She is survived by her husband, Loy Parks, Gainesville; daughter, Lolita Parks, Gainesville; son, Matthew Loy Parks, Dahlonega; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Stan Bales, Woodridge, Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Charlyne Gleave, San Diego, California, Fred and Gloria Gleave, Evanston, Illinois; granddaughter and husband, Tiffany and Dusty Turpin, Cleveland, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Brynn and Bryson Turpin. A host of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Blake McCoy officiated.

Interment followed in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega.

Desiree Danielle Fletcher

Desiree Danielle Fletcher, age 17, of Dahlonega, died January 26, 2012.

Desiree was born in Gainesville, Florida. She attended Lumpkin County High School.

She is survived by her mother, Kathy Schwan, Dahlonega; father, Danny Fletcher, Cross Creek, Florida; brothers, Kenny Butler, Jacksonville, Florida. Aaron Schwan, Dahlonega, Clint Fletcher and Dustin Lee, both of Live Oak, Florida.

Memorial services were held Sunday January 30, 2012 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Dahlonega.

Rev. Jad Denmark officiated.

Mary Nell Norsworthy

Mary Nell Norsworthy, age 81, of Ocoee, Fla., and a former resident of Dahlonega, died January 25, 2012 at her home in Ocoee.

Mary was born in Uriah, Alabama May 14, 1930. She had lived in Ocoee for several years. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was the daughter of the late John Ethridge and Ethel Wilson Ethridge and was also preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Norsworthy and daughter-in-law, Joan Norsworthy.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Gatlin, of Ocoee; son, Donnie Norsworthy, Dahlonega; brothers, Steve Ethridge and Roan Ethridge, both of Dahlonega; sisters, Margie Bohr, Thelma Phillips, Hazel Gibson, and Helen Sargent. Ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. J.R. Fields officiated.

Interment followed in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

Donald Clifford Parks

Mr. Donald Clifford Parks, age 54, of Dahlonega, went home January 27, 2012.

Donald was a native of Dahlonega, and lived his life for his two best friends, his daughters April and Heidi. He was a true blessing as a father and a role model of love for his daughters. He was a down to earth, caring, Godly man whose spirit will live on forever.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, April and Jeremiah Akin, Clermont; daughter, Heidi Parks, Gainesville, Ga.; grandson, Eli, Clermont, Ga.; mother, Homerell Parks, Clermont, Ga.; father, Lee Parks, Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Joann Parks, Dahlonega; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Pat Link, Gainesville; nieces and nephews, Mike, Jolie, and Sargent Scordino , Matt, Jenn, Madi, and Sam Link and many other extended family.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 30, 2012 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Danny Jarrard officiated.

Interment followed in Wahoo Baptist Church Cemetery.

Michael Ray Davis

Mr. Michael Ray Davis, age 58, of Dawsonville, died January 27, 2012.

Mr. Davis is the son of the late Bennie and Estelle Davis. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard Keith Davis and Bennie Davis Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Paula Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Anne Marie Stephens; grandson, Maverick Stephens; nephews, Keith and Jason Davis, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Davis was cremated. A memorial will be held by the family at a later date.

Sonyona Abee McCrady

Mrs. Sonyona Abee McCrady, age 43, of Dahlonega, died January 26, 2012.

Mrs. McCrady was born in Gainesville, Ga. She lived all of her life in Dahlonega. She was a nurse and loved working with the elderly. Sonyona was friendly and outgoing and she loved her dogs. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by her sons, Justin McCrady, Jason McCrady and Jared McCrady all of Dahlonega; parents, Herbert and Sandra Abee, Dahlonega; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Brenda B. Abee, Conyers, Ga., Shane and Tanya Abee, Dahlonega, Kelvin and Michelle Roberts, Suches.; boyfriend, Don Alder, Dahonega; children’s father, Bern McCrady, Dahlonega; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Phil Gilstrap, Rev. Jerry Abercrombie, and Brother John Lees officiated.

Interment followed in Dahlonega Memorial Park.
