Nellie Geraldine Millsaps

Mrs. Nellie Geraldine Millsaps, age 76, of Dahlonega, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega.

Mrs. Millsaps was a native of Rockwood, Tenn. who had lived in Lumpkin County for nearly 50 years. She was of the Baptist faith and worked at Dipper Dan’s in Dahlonega for a number of years.

She was the daughter of the late Jess Riddles and Artie Sutton Riddles and was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Millsaps; and brothers, Arthur and Moe Riddles.

Mrs. Millsaps is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Donna Millsaps, Gainesville, Ga., Charles and Kathy Millsaps, Dahlonega; daughters and son-in-law, Sheila Martin, Danielsville, Ga., Lisa and Alan Hampel, Dahlonega; brother, Charles Riddles, Michigan; sister, Emma Riddles, Kentucky. Seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Millsaps are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Craig Sexton and Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Dawson County.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Wednesday, August 8, from 1-9 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Lisa Williams Hood

Mrs. Lisa Williams Hood, age 45, of Dahlonega, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, at her home.

Lisa was a Forsyth County native who had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 9 years. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church on Old Dahlonega Hwy in Lumpkin County.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Hood; sons, Michael Ray Hood and Terry Le Hood; daughters, Christy Payne, Tina White, and Sharon Hood; parents, Glendon and Willie Jean Williams; sister, Glenda Brannon; brothers, Glen Williams and David Williams, all of Dahlonega. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Lisa were held Saturday, August 4, 2012, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Michael Rollins and Rev. Kenneth Segers officiated.

Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens in Cumming.

Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of the arrangements.

Kimberly Faith Stegemann

Mrs. Kimberly Faith Stegemann, age 48, of Dahlonega, died July 27, 2012.

A visitation for family and friends was held on July 29, 2012 at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega.

Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bellew Burns

Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bellew Burns, age 87 of Dahlonega, died Tuesday July 31, 2012.

Mrs. Burns was born March 15, 1925 in Meriwether County, Ga. She had lived in Lumpkin County for many years. She was a homemaker and member of Salem Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

“Lizzie” was the daughter of the late Dozier Bellew and Mary Etta Allen Bellew and was also preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Burns; brothers, Jessie Harold Bellew, Alvin Terrell Bellew, Roy Edgar Bellew, Homer Lee Bellew, and William Duncan Bellew; sisters, Doris May Jones and Ruby Laurel Gray.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Lloyd Anderson, Dahlonega; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Vicki Burns, Dahlonega, Ronald and Brenda Burns, Suches; brother, Turner Bellew, Puyallup, Washington; grandchildren, Wayne Burns, Sherry and Tony Sutton, Donny and Theresa Burns, Chad Burns, Jeffery Burns, Nicole Barnes, Sheena and Jason Hester, Parks Anderson and his fiancé , Megan Pentecost; great-grandchildren, Zachery Burns, Cheyenne Burns, Kimber Dudley, Austin Burns, Kaleigh Elizabeth Abernathy, Montana Barnes, Nathan and Mason Hester. Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burns were held Thursday, August 2, 2012, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Sidney Jones officiated.

Interment followed in Dahlonega Memorial Park.
