Margaruriette Ruth Abercrombie Rogers

Margaruriette Ruth Abercrombie Rogers, age 73, of Dahlonega, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Northeast Ga. Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.

Margaruriette was born in Lumpkin County, July 7, 1940 and lived most of her life in Lumpkin County. She was a homemaker and retired restaurant cook. She loved cooking and sewing and was of the Baptist faith.

Margaruriette was the daughter of the late Charles Griffin Abercrombie Sr. and Florence Odell Bragg Abercrombie and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lee Berrong; brothers, Elmer, Bill, Walter, and C.G. Abercrombie; and a sister, Lounell McDonald.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy Rider, Dahlonega, Patricia Kay and Dillard Canup, Hiawassee, Ga., Jane and Shannon Watson, Clermont, Ga., Carol and Michael Garrett, Hiawassee, Ga.; sons and daughter-in-law, Gus Jr. and Phyllis Rogers, and Danny Stephen Rogers, all of Hiawassee, Ga.; sister, Mattie Paul, Toccoa, Ga.; brothers, Ben Abercrombie and Tommy Abercrombie, both of Dahlonega, and Gary Abercrombie, Belton, Texas; son-in-law, Phillip Berrong, Albany, Ky.; 30 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers were held Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Rev. Les Fuller, Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiated.

Interment followed in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lillian Marie Holland Funderburk

Lillian Marie Holland Funderburk, age 62, of Dahlonega, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 following an extended illness.

Lillian was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. She had worked a short time as a Denture Technician at Gibson Dental Design before her illness.

She was the daughter of the late AsBerry and Nadine Grant Holland, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Beavers, and brother, Roy Holland.

Lillian is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jackie Funderburk; son, Jackie (Rusty) Funderburk, Jr., Dahlonega; daughters and sons-in-law, Bessie and Chris Farmer, Pendergrass, Ga.; Tammy and Robert Chambers; Lydia and Greg Lee, Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Debbie Holland, Dawsonville; brother, Lamar Holland, Dawsonville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Bill Hampel; Deborah and BJ Johnston, all of Dahlonega; and seven grandchildren; Chelsea Farmer; Cody and Kadie Chambers, Shadrick, Brooke, and Zackary Lee, and Anthony Funderburk. Several nieces, nephews and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Lillian were held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. J.W. Day and Rev. Calvin Gooch officiated.

Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

Joyce Martin Anderson, age 77, of Murrayville (Lumpkin County) passed away on Friday September 6, 2013, at her home following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Monday, September 9, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2. Arrangements by Dahlonega Funeral Home.
