Thomas P. “Tommy” Winters, 59, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013 following a sudden illness.
Born July 2, 1953, Mr. Winters was a native of Atlanta and had been living in Lumpkin County for the past 20 years. Tommy was formerly employed as a printer but had been employed at Walmart in Dawsonville since its opening. An avid camper and a champion at horseshoes, he was preceded in death by his father, Albert G. Winters, Jr., and stepfather, William Dennis Jackson.
Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Winters Jackson, Gulfport, Fla.; sisters and brother-in-law, Deborah Winters Milligan, Atlanta, Peggy and Larry Rich, Dacula; brothers and sister-in-law, Albert G. Winters, III, Douglasville, William and Leeann Winters, Beuche, La.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.

Kenneth Howard Woody
Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland, announces the death of Mr. Kenneth Howard Woody, age 51, of Cleveland. Mr. Woody passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 29, 2013, from the funeral home chapel. Rev. Donald Baker and Rev. David Gilstrap officiated. Interment followed in Dyer’s Heavenly Sunshine Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Woody was born on October 27, 1961, to the late Billy Howard Woody and Mildred Rider Woody. He was a self-employed contractor by trade and is preceded in death by his father, Billy Woody; his children, Tiffany Woody and Jason Woody, as well as his four infant children.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Woody, of Cleveland; his sons and spouses, Alex and Crissy Dyer, Daniel and Nikki Smith, Dustin Woody, David “Tyne” Woody, Cody Woody, and Dakota Woody, all of Cleveland; a daughter, Misty Woody, and her companion, Andrew Meaders, both of Cleveland; Kenneth’s mother, Mildred Woody, of Murrayville; his brother, Billy Waters; sisters and spouses, Kathy and Larry Burnette, and Kathleen and Junior Armstrong, all of Dahlonega. Mr. Woody is also survived by his grandchildren, Chloe Meaders, Trenton Meaders and Xander Dyer. His special friends include Dylan Webb, Mark Goodson, Angie Goodson, and Nathaniel Goodson.

Grover Lee Sullens
Mr. Grover Lee Sullens, age 65, of Lula, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013 following an extended illness.
Mr. Sullens was born and raised in Lumpkin County, and had spent the past 30 years in Banks County. He was a farmer and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Grover was the son of the late J.C. and Lula Anderson Sullens, and was also preceded in death by his sister, Coralee Boggs and brother-in-law Johnny Garner.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Callene and Harry Grant, Cleveland, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, James Clifton and Jerrye Sullens, Commerce, Ga, Eugene and Margaret Sullens, Lula, Ga; sisters and brother-in-law, Vernell and Clinton Gooch, Braselton, Ga, Glenda Garner, Dahlonega.; brother-in-law, Lake Boggs, Clermont, Ga., six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews, and a number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Sullens were held Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.
Interment followed in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

James Ralph Ravan Jr.
Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. James Ralph Ravan Jr., age 63 of Dahlonega.
Mr. Ravan passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 Funeral services were heldApril 23, 2013 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rural Martin officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jack Pilcher officiating.
James was born in White County on March 18, 1950, son of the late James Ralph Ravan Sr. and Ruby Ramey Ravan. He was employed with American Protein for several years as a truck driver and was a longtime member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, James is preceded in death by his wife, Denise Winkler Ravan.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Corbin Ravan, Dahlonega; mother, Ruby Ravan, Dahlonega; daughter and husband, Tammy and Johnny Fortner, Dahlonega; son, Michael Ravan, Cleveland; son and friend, Justin Ravan and Carrie Napier, Dahlonega; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Willie Jarrard, Dahlonega; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky and Diane Ravan, Cleveland, Freddie and Sherrill Ravan also of Cleveland. James is also survived by his two grandsons, Will Alexander and Trevor Alexander.
