Dennis G. Richardson

Resident of Dahlonega

Dennis G. Richardson, age 68, of Dahlonega, Ga. passed away Sunday February 2, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a short illness.

Born October 20, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, Ill. to the late Gene and Vernetta Richardson, he had lived in Dahlonega for the past ten years having moved from Griffin, Ga. Dennis was a retired civil engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation with 34 years of service. For the past ten years he was the office manager for Amicalola Propane in Dawsonville, Ga. which is owned by his son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Kristin. Affectionally known as “Poppa” he was a loving husband who was also very devoted to his sons and especially his grandchildren. Dennis was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, gardener, and was an accomplished inventor.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Jean Anglin Richardson, Dahlonega; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Cathy Richardson, Lawrenceville, Jon Richardson and his fiancé, Lisa Harn, Griffin, Matt and Kristin Richardson, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Jordan Richardson, Donovan Richardson, Maya Richardson, William Richardson, Maddie Richardson, Mary Anglin Richardson, Reagan Richardson, Genevieve Richardson, Isaac Harn; special friend, Evelyn King; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Connie Richardson, Belle Rive, Ill.; sister, Denise Richardson, Port Charlotte, Fla.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Dahlonega United Methodist Church. Rev. Steve Schofield and Rev. Richard Broom will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday, 9-11 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mothers Morning Out Program at Dahlonega United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 455 Dahlonega, GA 30533.

Miles Albert Carney

Resident of Dahlonega

Miles Albert Carney, age 21, of Dahlonega passed away Monday morning, January 27, 2014 in a single vehicle accident in Dawson County. Miles attended Lumpkin County High School. He enjoyed working with anything that had an engine. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and playing with his daughter, Alyssa and nephew, Daniel. His big heart and great smile will be missed by all.

Miles is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Carney; parents, Stanley and Denise Carney of Dahlonega; girlfriend, Sara Davis of Dahlonega; sister, Corissa Carney of Dahlonega; brother, Rodney Carney of Murrayville; grandparents, Ronald and Geraldine Dorminey of Dawsonville, Evans and Norma Weber of Cumming; aunts and uncles, Sue and Edward Woody of Dahlonega, Mark and Itura Weber of Springfield Virginia, Deborah and Paul Ulerick of Twelve Mile, Indiana; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services were held Friday, January 31 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Dahlonega, Ga. Rev. Andrew Harwood officiated.

Ruth Neal

Resident of Gainesville

Ruth Neal, 88, of Gainesville, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014. A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 22 at Dahlonega United Methodist Church in Dahlonega, Ga.

Mrs. Neal was born on September 30, 1925 to Guy and Hester Evans in Taliaferro County. She graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute, and received a diploma from Draughton School of Commerce on May 26, 1942. While raising her family, she held several banking and secretarial positions at companies including Trust Company of Georgia, Union Point Bank, Pine Tree Textiles, Dahlonega United Methodist Church, Civil Service with the Draft Board in Dahlonega. She retired from Fort Benning in 1993, after serving many years as a payroll clerk.

She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, and enjoyed entertaining with her friends in chapters in both Dahlonega and Columbus, Ga. She held many offices within the organization. She was an active member in Dahlonega United Methodist Church, where she served as president of the Dahlonega Methodist Women’s Society. She also attended St. Luke’s Methodist Church when she was a Columbus resident.

Mrs. Neal had a passion for travel, having visited Europe many times, where she especially enjoyed Germany, Holland and Switzerland. She also enjoyed traveling to places like Hawaii, New England, Canada, Western United States; Alaska being her favorite. She loved her rose garden, magnolia trees, playing bridge, and cooking for her family for the holidays.

Survivors include her son Frank Neal, Jr. and his wife Margaret, of Acworth, Ga.; daughter, Ellen Neal Butler and husband Jerry of Dahlonega, Ga; five grandchildren, Kaylen Butler of Athens, Ga., Adam Neal and his wife Hye-Kyung of New York City, NY, Stuart Neal of Jersey City, NJ, James Neal and his wife Natalie of Dallas, Ga. and Alex Neal of Atlanta, Ga.; one great-granddaughter Tatum Neal; nephew, Larry Evans Walker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stovall Neal Sr., sister, Francis Evans Walker Clements, and brother, Virgil Colclough Evans.

Charles Rudolph Wolff

Resident of Dahlonega

Charles Rudolph Wolff, age 92, of Dahlonega, Ga. died on March 1, 2014.

He was a native of Kingston, NY and a graduate of Parks Aeronautical College of St. Louis University. He served in the Naval Air Corp. during WWII and retired from Eastern Airlines after 33 years of service in Engineering Quality Control. A former resident of Miami, Fla. and Ocala, Fla. for 65 years, Mr. Wolff moved to Dahlonega two years ago to be near his daughter, Susan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Vera Bowen Wolff, of Dahlonega, daughter and son-in-law, Susan & Anthony Lancaster, of Dahlonega, son and daughter-in-law, John and Rose Wolff, of Ocala, Fla., sister, Lillian Mordas, of Beacon, N.Y., grandchildren, Jennifer Wolff, Lisa Wolff, and Brian Dewing, great-grandchildren, Blain Dewing, Sophia Dewing, and Vera Cate Dewing.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Dahlonega Funeral Home with Rev. Christine Greenwald officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Robert Ralph Ryno Sr.

Robert Ralph Ryno Sr. was born at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., Mich, July 26 1935. He passed on March 2, 2014 at age 78 in Buford, Gwinnett County, Ga. He is predeceased by his parents Alden Ryno and Leah Pearl (Benedict) Ryno. He is survived by sister Leah ‘Ann’ Ryno.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Barbara of almost 59 years. They met September 1954 at Candy Ann’s Drive-in on Division Ave and 52nd Street. Married April 8, 1955 at Calvary Church in Wayland, Allegan County, Mich. with honeymoon at Niagara Falls. Robert is lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara Joyce Berends of Onaway, Michigan.

He is also survived by his four children Deanna Lynne Crane (Phil), Robert Ralph Ryno Jr (Linda), Ronald Dale Ryno (Cathy) and David Alan Ryno; six grandchildren Matthew Philip Crane, Jonathan David Ryno, Kyle Taylor Ryno, Sean Michael Ryno, Melissa Deanne Ryno and Alden Grant Ryno, Alexander David Ryno and Megan Cara Ryno; and three great-grandchildren Makayla, Aaron and Brittain Ryno.

Memorial service with the family will be on March 6, 2014, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Gwinnett Baptist Church, 1868 Azalea Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30043.
