Larry Lavaughan Farmer, who escaped from the Lumpkin County Detention Center on February 18, has been arrested by Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Deputies on February 19 just before 11 p.m. approximately half a mile from the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

Farmer and William Jeffrey Harris had escaped from the Lumpkin County Detention Center when the two broke through an interior cell wall, by forcefully removing a toilet from the wall, and made entry into a mechanical area of the facility. A window in the mechanical area was broken by the two and both were able to make it to the exterior of the facility. Once outside, the two were able to climb over two fences, one with barbed wire and the other with razor wire.

In addition to existing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony), Attempt to Distribute Methamphetamine (Felony), Trafficking Methamphetamine (Felony), Fleeing/Eluding Police Officer (Felony), Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon (Felony), Possession of Firearm/Knife during Commission of Crime (Felony), Forgery in the First Degree (Felony), Giving False Name, Address, or Birthdate to Officer, and multiple traffic offenses, Farmer is now facing charges of Escape(Felony) and Criminal Interference With Governmental Property(Felony).
